The Films of Andrei Tarkovsky

Stalker (Сталкер)

This 1979 film tells the dystopic story of a 'stalker' whose job it is to guide citizens of a post-apocalyptic society into the Zone and to the Room where 'their most sincere wishes will come true.' Tarkovsky said, "Stalker is not a desperate film...its meaning must be spiritual, positive, it should bring hope and belief."
