Building New Libraries in Massachusetts: an advocacy case study
IFLA Council and General Conference / . Abstract: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is located in the Northeastern part of the United States. As one of the original thirteen colonies, Massachusetts has a uniquely rich cultural history. Massachusetts is unique in that nearly every one of its 355 cities and towns has an independent public library, all of which were established around the turn of the century from various association libraries, subscription libraries, and, in one instance, a young ladies reading library.
