Abstract:

A synthesis of sorne of the thernes and ideas developed in a recently published book about the future of inforrnation: i in the sky: visions of the infornation future. Cornrnon themes included: problerns in defining infonnation and defining future time-scales, the ubiquity of information, accessibility, privacy censorship and control, custornisation of infonnation products, the developrnent of the World Wide Web, artificial intelligence and cybernetics, changes in working roles and structures of organisations, information literacy, infonnation overload and the organisation and retrieval of infonnation.
