Content management and the future of academic libraries
Electronic library 2001 19 (6)432-440 Abstract: This paper discusses Internet-based e-content management. Specifically, this paper reviews the technologies, the criteria, and the issues and concerns in content repository (how content can be stored and retrieved), content contribution (how content can be created/digitized), workflow (content management), automation services, and lifecycle of automation services for controlling and managing content and processes. It presents an overview on the current available products and their applications in digital library deployment. Finally, issues, concerns, and challenges facing academic libraries are discussed
