A study on the need for rural information centres in the villages of Tamil Nadu

Abstract:

There are agricultural information centres in many villages of Tamil Nadu that disseminate vital information to the farmers about the crop, manure and other related details. However, villagers who are dependent on professions other than agriculture for livelihood have no such facility that fulfils their information requirements. Twenty villages in the state of Tamil Nadu have been studied to assess the need for Rural Information Centres. Further, the concept of RICs in villages of Tamil Nadu has been suggested. The RICs aims to meet all information requirements at the village level.
