The Library and the Sociology of Knowledge

Abstract:

Today, one might be amazed that library collections are not examined from the same sociological standpoint as their users. The development of information and its management, inside and outside the library, may be at the root of this deficiency. The contribution of the sociology of knowledge appears even more relevant because it would allow a better understanding of the relationship that the public maintains with library collections: an assembly of knowledge and learning.
